What to Check When Reviewing Resin Panel Samples
Published
From colour and translucency to texture, thickness and detail coordination, this article outlines what should be reviewed during the resin panel sample stage to reduce later design and installation deviations.

What should be checked during the sample review stage
At the resin panel sample stage, the focus should not be limited to whether the material looks attractive on its own. It is equally important to review colour appearance, translucency, texture direction, thickness, and how the panel will work with project details and construction conditions. The clearer these points are confirmed during sampling, the smoother the later design development, production and installation process will be.
- 1. Colour and overall atmosphere: review the sample under both natural light and actual project lighting conditions instead of relying on a single environment.
- 2. Translucency and surface effect: for translucent panels, check both illuminated and non-illuminated conditions; for decorative panels, confirm texture, reflection and tactile quality.
- 3. Thickness and structural compatibility: make sure the panel thickness works with framing, light slots, trims and installation methods.
- 4. Details and edge treatment: sample review should include discussion of joints, corners, edge finishing and any shaped or irregular areas.
- 5. Consistency in larger deliveries: for projects with a larger quantity, it is important to confirm colour stability, texture direction and batch consistency requirements early.
It is best to complete sample review early in the design-development stage and evaluate the panel together with lighting conditions, detail sketches and nearby materials, rather than judging it as an isolated sample piece.
